Match report for 26/4/07 against Wotton Rovers "B".

Yet another bright and sunny spring evening at Somerdale, with a dry and fast pitch in good condition was the venue for this clash between The Fry Club B Girls and Wotton Rovers B.

Now normally the Fry's Girls take a little time to settle down as the past match reports will reflect, well not in this game as Amy put the Fry Club B Girls 1-0 in front from close range in under 30 seconds! Yes that's correct 30 seconds maybe less!

Wotton were straight back under pressure from the restart as Steph tore into the Wotton Rovers B defence and after a couple smart passing moves scored Fry's second goal to put the score at 2-0 to the Fry Club B Girls. All this in under 3minutes! Wotton B just didn't know what had hit them! And to a certain extent neither did the Fry's players as the next five minutes passed with out a goal! Wotton then started to play football and looked a little threatening. Fry's however changed gear with Danni and Alice getting the better of the Wotton midfield and releasing Steph and Amy to wreak havoc with the Wotton defence!

Amy smashed a top quality ball from Steph, into the back off the Wotton net to put the score at 3-0 to Fry's at around 10 minutes into the first half.

Wotton continued to try and fight back and but for some great solid defending from Emma, Emily Dean and a couple of half tidy saves from Charlotte they may have pulled a goal back. Fry's needed another goal to maybe finish Wotton off , step up Danni. On receiving a ball knocked out of the Fry's box this is what happened in her own words " I saw the ball coming and that Steph and Amy were off and running but had just cleared half of the Wotton side of the pitch, so I hit the ball as hard as I could from around halfway up our half of the pitch and hoped that either of the girls would make it, as I knew that on the volley I could reach the Wotton box, as soon as I hit the ball I knew I had caught it spot on and I just saw the Wotton keeper out the corner of my eye was off her line, I didn't expect it to go in but it did! " 4-0 to Fry's!

With back up from Alice and Danni, Steph and Amy just ran rings around the Wotton defenders and played some really top class passing football which was rewarded with Steph scoring another cracker to end the first half 5-0 to the Fry Club B Girls!

Wotton made some changes at half time in order to keep the score down and swapped their Goal Keeper. The Fry's Team remained unchanged (if it ain’t bust don't try and fix it). The second half started as the first had finished with Steph and Amy just dominant up front and the rest of the team playing top class passing intelligent football! The Wotton goal was constantly bombarded with great shots from Steph and Amy but to her credit the Wotton substitute Goal Keeper was outstanding and with every Wotton player now behind the ball, to try to find an opening into the back of the net was very difficult. At around 15 minutes into the second half Alice was substituted for Chelsie and Danni was changed for Emily Tite, both former players being clapped off the pitch! Still Wotton held the score at 5-0 and it has to be said quite unbelievably!

With around ten minutes left on the clock Emily Dean was changed for Sophie who was also clapped off the pitch for some great defending.

Amy finally scored again for the Fry Club B Girls with a fantastic climbing shot that nearly broke the back of the Wotton net! This made the score 6-0. And that's how it remained at the final whistle, 6 Goals to Nil to The Fry Club B Girls!!!!!! What a performance!!!!!

Player of the match for this game was Steph for what can only be described as an Awesome performance in every way! Very well done!

Mentioned in dispatches for this game has to be Amy who was also quite stunning and didn't stop running. Emily Dean for a great cool head at the back, Emma who had a great second half, knocked forward some great long balls and Danni for some lovely midfield passing and tackling. Well done to you all !
